"Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er,
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more."
-Louisa M. R. Stead
The words sung were like a sweet balm applied to the core of my soul. My dad, slowly walking with his cane, meandered his way through my kitchen on Christmas Day. As he walked around, he sung those beautiful lyrics. I sat in my living room just soaking in the sound of those words. Each word held such meaning to me because my dad was the one singing them.
My sweet daddy who never complains....
My sweet daddy who has endured more obstacles in life than I would be able to list....
My sweet daddy who carries on for the sake of Christ with every breath he breathes....
He truly is a living example of God's trustworthiness and faithfulness.
Simply trust.
Like a baby trusts his mama to provide milk.....
Like a little boy trusts his daddy to catch him when thrown up in the air....
Like a child trusts his parents to provide clothes and food....
Children simply trust.
Oh if we could grasp this concept! If our fear, anxiousness, and worry would be swallowed up in the absolute, undeniable trustworthiness of our Lord, Jesus, we would be unstoppable.
No fear of humiliation.
No fear of provisions.
No fear of sickness.
No fear of betrayal.
No fear of death.
No fear.
Oh the souls that stand firm in their resolve to live for Christ...
Oh the souls that choose to stand alone for righteousness sake....
Oh the souls that fear nothing but disappointing God.....
Are you one of them?
My dad's fragile frame moved slowly around my house this week. No one looking on his outside would see the giant on the inside. No fear, just simply trusting. Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus!
