A number of years ago, I stumbled upon a resource called Sermon Index. This is a website that freely offers old sermons from the last century. I was shocked by the content of many of these old sermons. There was a passion and zeal that is lacking in today's hermeneutical climate. Sin was called out in pointed fashion. The slow unnoticeable drift toward sin and apathy was brought to light by listening to what was warned about in the past.

A more modern pastor that had a similar zeal and fire was David Wilkerson. He died a decade ago, but his passionate pleas for holiness and seeking the face of God are more needed now than ever. His sermon," A Call to Anguish" is a message that we must hear today. The heat of this sermon may blister the paint off your TV set, but it may also melt your frozen heart. This sermon calls out our apathy, love of comfort, and lack of pursuing God with every fiber of our being. It talks about the bankrupt American church system which is even more dead now, than when this was preached. Most importantly it speaks of the deep repentance and crying out to God that are required to help us find our way back. I have listened to this sermon over and over. While I do not agree with all all that this man believed, I believe that he knew God and spoke truth as boldly as he knew how. Every believer should find an hour to listen to this important message of repentance.
