Christian Heros: Then & Now

Other than the Bible, Christian biographies may have impacted my life more than any other type of Christian book. They have the special ability of showing us a path through the forest that we may not have believed to be passable. We often view the examples in the Bible as more abstract and disconnected from our reality. While this has no basis, a biography can remind us that God is still working, even in our day. It is comforting to read of the challenges and victories that others have experienced.

Not only are biographies important for adults, but they are also so beneficial for children as well. Positive Christian role models are essential for our children. Today's culture does not set before our kids God-fearing examples. Given this current standard, I have been elated to share The Christian Heroes: Then & Now series by Janet & Geoff Benge. This series presents the lives of numerous Christian heroes from the past in a way that is succinct and engaging. I have read many biographies from in the series and would highly recommend each and every one. There are audio versions available that are excellent, too.

I have been thrilled to watch my nine year old start to read and and enjoy these biographies. The series is challenging and encouraging to kids and adults alike. The examples of believers who poured out their lives for the Gospel of Jesus Christ serves as such spiritual motivation for young and old to work for the Kingdom until the day He calls us home.
