"Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Hebrews 10:25
Yesterday, our family had the privilege of worshipping together with a couple of different ministries. It was so refreshing. These believers demonstrate a life of faith not fear. They assemble weekly and worship Almighty God. The conversation was not of worldly pleasures and methods, but the dialogue was about our powerful God and His ability to work miracles. Talk was centered on walking by faith, pursuing a closer relationship with Christ, and serving unabashedly until the Lord's return.
On a regular basis, though, I see the church, in general, doing just the opposite. Pastors are more concerned about what their people will think, than what God will think. People are forsaking meeting together in fear of the unknown. The church is more concerned about what the community will think about them than what God thinks. The church is not as a whole walking by faith. Instead, they are looking to unbelievers for their cues on when to gather together.
Wake up!
The day is drawing closer when Christ will call His Church home. Until then we are supposed to be meeting and encouraging one another. We are supposed to be watching for His return and working while we still have time.
God's ways will never be popular. We don't need to sugar coat the Gospel to make it more attractive. We don't need rack our brains about how to make the church more trendy. We need to give the Gospel. We need to work whole-heartedly. We need to meet together while we still have the opportunity to do so.....even more so as the hour of His return approaches!
